About
The UCCS Internet Radio Station
The UCCS Internet Radio Station was built from the ground up by the student members of the UCCS Chapter of the ACM. During the first 2 years of existence, the Internet Radio Station operated as a group within the ACM Student Club and was affiliated with the Computer Science Department within the College of Engineering and Applied Science.UCCS’s Internet Radio provides streaming audio content for the UCCS (University of Colorado, Colorado Springs) campus, the Colorado Springs community and beyond. We are the official UCCS campus Radio Station, and we provide broadcast media infrastructure to students, alumni, staff or faculty members from our Studio on campus. The Internet Radio Station started in 2003 as a project undertaken by the UCCS Chapter of the ACM, the Computer Science Professional Association. The establishment of the radio station was made possible by a generous grant by the UCCS Technology Fee Committee.
During the Fall of 2005, the UCCS Internet Radio Station became an official organization within the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The Internet Radio Station has an associated Student Club which performs many of the activities needed for day-to-day running. Thus, UCCS students who want to be involved with the Radio Station (e.g., if someone wants to have a show, or be involved in management, marketing, technology issue) should become part of the student club. Anyone else (staff, faculty, community members, alumni) who want to be involved with the radio station in any capacity should do so as a part of the Internet Radio Station organization within the College of LAS.
UCCS Internet Radio accepts proposals for new shows from students, alumni, staff, faculty and community members. Most proposals are accepted.
